A studio built on 20+ years of craft.
I started mk1studios because I believed small businesses deserved the same quality of web work as large companies — but with a personal touch that only a small studio can provide.
Based in East Yorkshire, I've been designing and building websites since the early days of the web. Over two decades, I've worked with businesses of all kinds — from sole traders and local shops to councils and established companies across the region.
In that time, I've seen trends come and go, tools evolve, and the web change beyond recognition. What's stayed constant is my belief that a great website starts with understanding a business deeply — its goals, its customers, and what makes it special.
Every project I take on is different, and I approach each one with the same level of care and curiosity. Whether it's a first website for a new business or a complete rebuild for an established one, I give it everything.

The principles behind every project.
01
Honesty first
I'll always give you an honest assessment of what you need — and what you don't. No upselling, no overcomplicating.
02
Direct communication
You work directly with me, not with an account manager. I'm available throughout the project and always keep you informed.
03
Quality over quantity
I take on a carefully chosen number of projects at a time so that every client gets my full attention and best work.
04
Built to last
I build sites with longevity in mind — clean code, good structure, and technology choices that won't become a burden.
Proudly based in East Yorkshire.
East Yorkshire is home to a strong community of independent businesses — from Hull's creative quarter to the market towns and coastal communities across the region. These are exactly the kind of people we love working with, and we take on projects from further afield too.
